Protect: import passwords

You can import passwords to the Yandex Browser beta version from other browsers and password managers. You can also import passwords using a file from one Yandex the Yandex Browser beta version to another browser, For example, when reinstalling the operating system or changing the device.

Import passwords from the browser

Available browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Opera
  • Mozilla Firefox (32-bit)
  • Amigo
  • Edge
  • Internet Explorer (OS Windows 8, 10, and higher)
  1. Click  → Passwords, cards, data.

  2. If you have created master password enter it to access the storage.

  3. Under Passwords, click Import passwords.

  4. In the Select import source section, select the browser from which you want to import passwords.

After importing the passwords, Yandex Browser will tell you how many passwords were added.

Passwords are encrypted with a key generated by Yandex Browser. For better security, create a master password and a backup encryption key.

During installation, the Yandex Browser beta version offers to import passwords and other data from your default browser. You can select a different browser installed on your computer or refuse to import passwords.

Import passwords from a file

  1. Export the passwords from the program to a file.

  2. Open the Yandex Browser beta version.

  3. Click  → Passwords, cards, data.

  4. If you have created master password enter it to access the storage.

  5. Click  → Export passwords in the upper-right corner of the Passwords section.

  6. In the Select import source section, select the program from which you want to import passwords.

    • 1Password (*.pif)
    • 1Password (*.csv)
    • Lastpass (*.csv)
    • Kaspersky Password Manager (*.txt)
    • Yandex Browser (*.zip): You will have to enter the password you set when exporting passwords.
    • Yandex Browser (*.csv)
  7. Enter the password file and click Open.

If the password manager and file contain the same sites, the password that was changed last will be saved during import.

After importing the passwords, Yandex Browser will tell you how many passwords were added.
