Installing and updating the browser

Before you install the browser, make sure your computer meets the system requirements:

Install
- Download the setup file from browser.yandex.com/beta.
- Open the downloaded file in your browser.
- Click Install.
- Allow the installer to make changes on the computer.
Updates
The Yandex Browser beta version is updated automatically. Without updates, your browser can not protect your data from new threats.
The Yandex Browser beta version is updated automatically. However, if you have not installed the appropriate repository, you need to manually register it along with the digital signature key:
- Run:
sudo add-apt-repository "deb https://repo.yandex.ru/yandex-browser/deb beta main"
- Download the digital signature key by running:
curl https://repo.yandex.ru/yandex-browser/YANDEX-BROWSER-KEY.GPG --output YANDEX-BROWSER-KEY.GPG
- Register the key in the distribution disk by running:
sudo apt-key add YANDEX-BROWSER-KEY.GPG
Reinstall
To reinstall the browser so that all your profile information including your tabs, site permissions, and sessions are saved:
- Close all browser windows.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Click Programs and click Uninstall a program).(in Windows 10, go to
- In the Uninstall or change program window, select the Yandex program.
- Click Uninstall at the top of the list.
- In the window that opens, click Delete, but do not select the Delete browser settings, browser history, and other data? option.
- Click Delete browser.
- Install the browser again.
- Close all browser windows.

- Click Uninstall at the top of the list.
- Click Reinstall in the dialog box that opens.
- Click Reinstall the browser.
All your profile data will be deleted from your computer during the re-installation process. However, if you synced your devices, most of your profile data will be saved on the Yandex server. This data will be restored after syncing. If you don't want your data to be restored, delete it from the server.

- Close all browser windows.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Click Programs and click Uninstall a program).(in Windows 10, go to
- In the Uninstall or change program window, select the Yandex program.
- Click Uninstall at the top of the list.
- Click Delete in the dialog box that opens.
- Click Delete browser.

Your information and settings will only be deleted from your local computer. If you synced your devices, most of your profile data will be saved on the Yandex server. After you reinstall the browser and sync it with the server, your data and settings will be restored. If you don't want your data to be restored, delete it from the server.

The Yandex Browser beta version is updated automatically whether you use it or not. This is for security reasons: new threats are constantly appearing on the internet and better protection methods are added to the browser in response to them.
We do not recommend disabling automatic updates in the background, but you can follow these instructions to do so if you must:
- Tap .
- Click System.
- In the Performance section, deselect the Update the browser, even if it's not running option.
After you do this, the browser will no longer update automatically in the background. However, as soon as you open the browser, it immediately checks for updates and will do so regularly in the future when it's running.
