Import data

Yandex.Browser can transfer bookmarks, browsing history and other settings from another browser installed on your computer.

Automatic settings import

During installation, Yandex.Browser offers to transfer your settings from the browser that was previously set as the default browser. The type of data that is imported depends on the operating system and browser it is imported from.

Note. If a master password is set in Mozilla Firefox, Yandex.Browser will not be able to import saved website passwords. Mozilla Firefox passwords are also not imported for macOS users.

Disable automatic setting imports

During browser installation

When you install Yandex.Browser, the Import data tab opens and you can choose not to automatically import browser settings by default:

  1. Make sure that your default browser is selected in the drop-down list.
  2. Click Skip.
  3. To confirm that you don't want to import your settings, click Continue in the Yandex.Browser will restart window.
If you closed the “Import your data” tab
  1. Open the browser://activation/ page.
  2. In the drop-down list, choose the browser that your settings were automatically imported from.
  3. Click Skip.
  4. To confirm that you don't want to import your settings, click Continue in the Yandex.Browser will restart window.

Manually import settings

After you install Yandex.Browser, you can import your settings manually. For example, you might want to import settings from a browser other than your default browser or only import some of your settings.

To import settings

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. In the Profiles section, click the Import bookmarks and settings button.
  3. Go to the Import bookmarks and settings window and select the browser you want to import settings and other components from.
  4. Click the Import button.
