SDK update rules
Update types
The AppMetrica SDK supports semantic versioning:
Major version update: The first digit in the version number. These updates introduce incompatible changes to the API. Installation may take from a few hours to two days if new features are integrated. In rare cases, you may need to update the Push SDK and the Ads SDK.
Minor version update: The second digit in the version number. These updates add features without breaking backward compatibility. Installation may take from a few minutes to two hours if testing is enabled and new features are integrated.
Patch: The third digit in the version number. Patches fix bugs without breaking backward compatibility. Installation may take up to one hour if testing is enabled.
Why it's important to regularly update the SDK
AppMetrica continuously develops analytical tools in order to:
- Respond to changes in advertising SDKs and partner APIs.
- Integrate new types of events and signals.
- Adapt to updates in iOS and Android, as well as plugins for supported platforms (Unity, React Native, Flutter).
- Monitor legal aspects, regulatory requirements, and app store policies.
These changes shape the development of the AppMetrica SDK. Without them, data gradually loses its completeness, accuracy, or legal compliance.
Timely SDK updates will help you:
- Maintain stable and continuous data collection, including data on advertising interactions and revenue.
- Ensure reporting accuracy when changes occur in advertising SDKs, partner integrations, and other external ecosystems.
- Ensure data consistency over time.
- Use up-to-date methods for processing and aggregating events that affect proper attribution and metric calculation.
If you're using an outdated AppMetrica SDK version, your app may encounter issues that have already been fixed in the latest version.
