# Carousel

## Description {#description}

A carousel is a multi-slide ad format. This format is native, so you can customize the carousel navigation elements, such as arrows and switches, to match the design of your site.

Slides are banners from different campaigns. You can configure these banners to add them to a carousel.

{% note warning %}

The Carousel format is supported only by **Guarantee** campaigns.

{% endnote %}

> [Sample banner](https://yandex.ru/project/yan/adfox-formats/example/carousel)

To display a carousel, create and add the following in the same placement:

- The main campaign with the **Carousel** [profile](*campaign-profile) and carousel design settings.
- Additional campaigns with the **Direct sale** [profile](*campaign-profile) and special banner templates.

Slide banners of direct sales campaigns are displayed in one carousel according to the banner design settings you specified in the campaign with the **Carousel** profile.

For more information about configuring this format for an app, see the [Help section on in-app advertising](https://ads.yandex.com/helpcenter/en/monetization/adfox/banner-specs/app-carousel).

## Format features {#features}

- In a carousel, you can choose from two to 10 slides.

- A single position in a carousel is a single slide from one campaign.

- You can set up each slide to target specific audience segment.

- Slide positions are defined by the levels and priorities of their campaigns.

  If Adfox can't serve a slide for a certain position (for example, if the campaign has been completed or there are no active banners), it displays a slide with a lower priority in this position.

- A labeling token is assigned to each banner individually. Since carousels include slides from different campaigns, you can submit data to the state register in a standard way: under the agreement with the end advertiser linked to the campaign.

- You can select navigation elements and customize their design.

- Statistics are available for the entire carousel as well as its slides.

Here is an example of populating a 3-slide carousel that targets users in Moscow:

## Add a banner to Adfox {#addbanner}

### Step 1. Create a carousel's master slider {#step1}

1. Add a new or select an existing [placement](https://yandex.com/support/adfox/en/ad-inventory/sites.md#site-zone-place) for the carousel using a **Custom** or **Predefined** banner type.

2. Create a **Guarantee** [campaign](https://yandex.com/support/adfox/en/campaigns/add-new.md) with the **Carousel** [campaign profile](*campaign-profile). To learn more about profiles, see [Campaign profile](https://yandex.com/support/adfox/en/campaigns/campaign-profile.md).

3. In the campaign settings, go to **Banners** and click **Create**.

4. Choose the **Display Advertising** banner format and the **Carousel web [context]** template.

5. Set up the carousel appearance:

   #|
   || **Parameter** | **Description** ||
   || **Number of slides** | Set a value from 2 to 10. ||
   || **Width** | Carousel container width in pixels or as a percentage. ||
   || **Height** | Carousel container height in pixels or as a percentage. ||
   || **Show part of adjacent slides** |
   Select `true` or `false`.

   If the option is enabled, the viewable slide width gets 20% less than the set one. Please keep this in mind when preparing HTML5 creatives for your slide. With the option enabled, the width of the ad creative you set should be 20% less than the carousel container width.

   For example, if the container is 1200 px wide, the width of the creative should be 960 рх for the adjacent slides to be rendered.

   ||
   || **Auto scroll time (sec)** | Specify how long a slide should remain on screen before the next one is shown. ||
   || **Show arrows** | Select `true` or `false`.

   If the option is enabled, the user can manually flick to the next slide without waiting by using arrows on the carousel's edges. ||
   || **Show dots** | Select `true` or `false`.

   If the option is enabled, dots at the bottom of the carousel will show the total number of slides and the position of the current one. ||
   ||
   **Arrows: arrow color**

   **Arrows: background color**

   **Arrows: color on hover**

   **Arrows: background color on hover**

6. Under **Placement**, select a placement for the carousel.

### Step 2. Set up the carousel contents {#step2}

1. Create a **Guarantee** [campaign](https://yandex.com/support/adfox/en/campaigns/add-new.md) with the **Direct sale** [campaign profile](*campaign-profile). Under **Placement**, select the placement set up for the carousel.

   {% note warning %}

   Make sure to place your slides on the same placement as the master slider of the carousel.

   {% endnote %}

2. Go to the form for adding a banner. Choose **Display Advertising** as the banner format and a template suitable for placing the carousel. The following templates are available:

   - **Banner Image Slide [context]**

   - **Banner Promo Slide [context]**

   - **Banner HTML5 Slide [context]**

   - **Banner Video Slide [context]**

3. Set up the banner parameters and click **Save**.

## Labeling {#labeling}

You can place ads from different advertisers within the same carousel and submit these ads to the state register (ERIR, Unified Register of Online Advertising) under separate contracts with end advertisers. Each position is a unique banner from its own campaign.

In carousels, you can label only slide banners. You can't enable labeling in a master slider with the **Carousel** profile.

## Statistics {#statistics}

Banner statistics are collected at multiple levels:

{% list tabs radio %}

- Placement

  Go to the level of a campaign with the **Carousel** profile. Open the **Reports** tab and select the **By campaigns in Carousel** or **By Carousel positions** report.

- Campaigns with slides

  Go to the level of a campaign with the slide. Open the **Reports** tab and select the **By banners slides in Carousel** report.

  Reports are not available for campaigns that don't have slide banners.

- Slide

  Go to the slide level, open the **Reports** tab, and then select the **By positions in Carousel** report.

{% endlist %}

You can't choose groupings for preset reports.

To analyze metrics grouped by events in a custom report, add the **Bulk formats** → **Position** grouping when creating the report.

{% note info %}

When you add the **Splits by banners** grouping, position metrics are calculated for a banner in a certain place if this banner was served in two or more positions.
