# Tracking pixel

A tracking pixel (1 × 1 banner, pixel) is a transparent image, 1 × 1 in size, that loads with the measured banner. It's used for sending information about banner impressions to third-party systems.

## Initial setup for getting tracking pixels {#section_pns_tfv_xfb}

#### Step 1. Add a banner type

1. Go to the **Settings** → **Banner types** tab and select **Predefined** → **Nondimensional**. A list of banner types opens.
1. Enable the **1 × 1** banner type and click **Change**.

#### Step 2. Create platforms

1. Go to the **Inventory** tab in the main menu, find the desired site, and click <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="12" height="12" viewBox="0 0 12 12" fill="none"><path fill-rule="evenodd" clip-rule="evenodd" d="M1 11.25C0.447715 11.25 0 10.8023 0 10.25V1.75C0 1.19772 0.447715 0.75 1 0.75H11C11.5523 0.75 12 1.19772 12 1.75V10.25C12 10.8023 11.5523 11.25 11 11.25H1ZM10.5008 3.75H1.5V6.25H4.5H5.5H10.5V7.25H5.5V9.75H10.5008V3.75ZM4.5 7.25H1.5V9.75H4.5V7.25Z" fill="black"/></svg>**Sections** to the left of its name. Select a section and click <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="12" height="12" viewBox="0 0 12 12" fill="none"><path fill-rule="evenodd" clip-rule="evenodd" d="M1 11H6V1H1V11ZM11 6H7V1H11V6ZM10 2H8V5H10V2ZM7 11H11V7H7V11ZM8 8H10V10H8V8Z" fill="black"/></svg>**Placements** to the left of its name.
1. Add a platform for the **1 × 1** banner type.

## Create a tracking pixel in Adfox {#add_1x1}

#### Step 1. Add an ad campaign

: Add an ad campaign by following our [instructions](https://yandex.com/support/adfox/en/campaigns/add-new.md). You can't set any restrictions or targeting for an ad campaign and a 1 × 1 banner. All settings are configured for the banner with ad content.

    We recommend using the **Banners load** impression count method in an ad campaign for a 1 × 1 banner. This way, you can get simple links to the impression and click. You cannot change the method after creating a campaign. [Learn more about the impression count method](../campaigns/impressions-method.md)

#### Step 2. Add a 1 × 1 banner

1. Click **Add**, select the **1 × 1** banner type with the **Nondimensional** load type and the **1 × 1** template.
1. In the **Transition URL** field, enter the link to the advertiser's site.
1. In the **Image** field, specify a third-party impression counter.
1. Fill in the **Tracking pixel link** field if you want the banner to be uploaded using a request from the embed code.

    {% note alert %}

    When [simple-links](*simple-links) are used, tags specified in this parameter are not called.

    {% endnote %}

1. If you want to measure events, enable the **Events enabled** option in the banner parameters.

## Get a link for measurement in third-party systems {#get_simple_link}

1. Go to **Campaigns** → **Banners**. Select the desired banner and go to the **Ad platforms** tab.
1. Place the banner on the platform.
1. Click <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="12" height="12" viewBox="0 0 12 12" fill="none"><path fill-rule="evenodd" clip-rule="evenodd" d="M4.50007 10.5002L6.00007 1.50024H7.50007L6.00007 10.5002H4.50007ZM0 5.24987V6.74973V6.74987L0.000115614 6.7498L3.75 9.00048V7.50048L1.24991 5.99992L3.75 4.49987V2.99987L0.000115614 5.2498L0 5.24973V5.24987ZM8.24985 9.00031V7.50031L10.7497 5.99987L8.24985 4.49994V2.99994L11.9995 5.24975L11.9998 5.24956V5.24994V6.74956V6.74994L11.9995 6.74975L8.24985 9.00031Z" fill="black"/></svg>**Ad tag** next to the desired platform.

    If the button isn't there, contact [support](https://yandex.com/support/adfox/en/support/feedback.md) and ask to enable the **Ad tags on the banner placement level** module.

1. Copy the simple links and send them to the third-party system for installation.

    {% cut "What are simple links?" %}

    Adfox provides special links from a banner which enable you to count click-throughs, impressions, events, as well as get links to images uploaded to the banner.

    **Types of simple links**

    #|
    || **Image link** | To count impressions and call the tag specified in the **Image** banner parameter. ||
    || **Link to get pixel** | To count banner impressions. Does not call installed links in the banner parameters. ||
    || **Click-through link** | To count click-throughs. When a link is called, the user's clicks to the advertiser's site is counted and the user is redirected to the link specified in the **Transition URL** banner parameter.

    To get a click-through link, click **Get a click-through link** and confirm that you agree to disable impression fraud protection. ||
    || **Link to call event** | If the **Events enabled** option is activated in the banner parameters, you can copy up to 30 links to events. ||
    |#

    To install links in third-party systems, you need to use [randomized](#linking-requirements) links.

    The links only work if the banner and campaign are active and meet the targeting and restriction criteria.

    They work independently of each other. For example, you can only get a click-through link. Then the banner will not have statistics on impressions, but click-throughs will be counted.

    If you use simple links to measure the placement of a banner in a third-party system, we recommend that you don't set any restrictions or targeting for the banner or ad campaign to ensure correct accounting of statistics in Adfox.

    {% endcut %}

## Requirements for installing Adfox links {#linking-requirements}

When installing links in third-party systems, you need to randomize links. Every Adfox link has a `pr` parameter with the `[RANDOM]` value, instead of which you need to specify the randomization function (generating a random integer from 1 to 4294967295 inclusive).

For example:

```
http://ads.adfox.ru/123456/getCode?p1=bnjwv&p2=elet&ptrc=b&pfc=bakej&pfb=dacud&pr=[RANDOM]
```

Let's add the `%system.random%` Adfox randomization function to the `pr` parameter:

```
http://ads.adfox.ru/123456/getCode?p1=bnjwv&p2=elet&ptrc=b&pfc=bakej&pfb=dacud&pr=%system.random%
```

When sending tracking pixels to mail.ru, only use **Link to get pixel** and **Click-through link**.
