Resetting the device and recovering data

You can use Addappter to save user data and then restore it when resetting the device to factory settings. Contacts, SMS messages, photos, videos, and WhatsApp history can be saved and restored.

You can use Addappter to restore data for devices running on the following Android versions:
  • Oreo 8.0
  • Nougat 7.0
  • Marshmallow 6.0–6.1
  • Lollipop 5.0–5.1
  • KitKat 4.4
  • Jelly Bean 4.1–4.3

To check the version of the Android device, open the Settings application and choose About device.

To reset the device with data recovery:
  1. Connect the device to transfer the data from. In Addappter, click the Recovery button. The program collects information about the user's data on the device.

  2. On the device, select what you want to restore after the reset: contacts, messages, WhatsApp history, videos, or photos. Then click Save data.

  3. Wait until the data is fully saved on the computer, then follow the instructions from the program to reset the device.
  4. Turn on USB debugging mode on the device. If the device was disconnected from the computer during the reset, reconnect it.

  5. In Addappter, click Data restore. A special application opens on the device. Follow the instructions. Don't disconnect the device from the computer.

  6. When data recovery is complete, click the Completed button in the program.
