A very interesting historical place. Before everything collapses, there is an opportunity to climb all the floors. The main thing is to do it carefully because everything is already falling apart. The place is beautiful and it's a pity that the city administration abandons such structures and does not do the reconstruction.

The fortress barracks was built in the 1807-1812s as part of the first stage of the construction of the fortified complex, initiated by decree of Alexander I, and was a capital brick building designed to accommodate the garrison, with living quarters for soldiers and officers, warehouses and office premises. By 1812, the barracks had already hosted a garrison, which became a key element of the fortress' defense during the Patriotic War: soldiers were housed in barracks buildings, and the buildings themselves served as protected shelters during shelling. In the 1820s and 1830s, the barracks were repeatedly reconstructed and expanded due to the modernization of the entire fortress and an increase in the number of garrisons. After the Polish uprisings of 1830-1831 and 1863-1864, some of the barracks' premises were also used for political prisoners and security purposes. In the second half of the 19th century, the strategic importance of the fortress decreased, but the barracks continued to function as residential and economic buildings of the garrison. During the First World War, the barracks buildings were used to house Russian units, and after the occupation of the region in 1918, German units. During the Great Patriotic War, from 1941 to 1944, the barracks were severely damaged: a camp for Soviet prisoners of war was organized on the territory of the fortress by the German occupiers, part of the barracks was set on fire, resulting in the death of thousands of people, and the buildings were seriously damaged. After the liberation of Bobruisk in 1944, the barracks were not restored as a fortification facility, but in the post-war years they were used by the Soviet military as living and utility rooms, warehouses, workshops and technical services. Architecture and interior design gradually lost their original appearance, communications were partially dismantled, roofs and ceilings were destroyed. During the Soviet period, the barracks continued to serve the garrison and various military services, and from 1990 to 1995, a large communications regiment of about 800 people, as well as auxiliary units, a radio relay battalion, air defense units and repair services were located on the territory of the fortress, including barracks buildings. The territory of the fortress remained closed, and the barracks were used for their intended purpose for the accommodation of personnel and official needs. After the complete withdrawal of troops in 1995, the barracks lost the status of an active military facility. In 2002, the complex of the Bobruisk Fortress, including the barracks, was included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus. Despite this, a significant part of the barracks buildings remained destroyed or in a dilapidated state: the roofs and ceilings were lost, the interior disappeared, and the walls were partially preserved. Attempts at restoration and conservation have been underway since the early 2000s, but many buildings continue to deteriorate. By 2025, the barracks of the Bobruisk Fortress are ruins with a historical status, with preserved fundamental structural elements, which makes it possible for future restoration, but most of the premises remain abandoned and require serious restoration to preserve the architectural monument of the 19th century.
