Beware of UMW Recordings: A Cautionary Tale I am writing this review as a warning to anyone considering using UMW Recordings as a music distributor. My experience with this platform has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing, especially concerning account suspension, payment delays, and lack of support. Unsubstantiated Allegations UMW Recordings accused me of using bots or artificial traffic to inflate my streaming numbers and generate revenue. However, this accusation is baseless, as no concrete evidence has been provided to support their claim. Account Suspension Timeline After a few negative reviews, my account was suddenly suspended. UMW Recordings stated that the suspension was due to “suspicious activity” related to the use of bots, detected through their monitoring tools. However, the timing of the suspension is questionable. I first reached out to UMW Recordings in May 2024 regarding payment issues, and despite multiple follow-ups, my withdrawal requests were continuously postponed. Yet, my account remained active throughout this period until I began posting one-star reviews—only then was it suspended. The "Investigation" Following the account suspension, UMW Recordings claimed they would conduct an investigation, involving emails from various departments: legal@umwrecordingsinc.com copyright@umwrecordingsinc.com claims@umwrecordingsinc.com label@umwrecordingsinc.com (Founder/CEO) However, despite reaching out to these contacts, I received no responses for over five days. It appears that these email addresses serve more as a façade to give the illusion of a structured company rather than providing real support. Payment Issues and Broken Promises UMW Recordings has consistently failed to fulfill their payment commitments. I initially signed up for the "Pro Music" package, which advertised 100% royalties, but my account reflects only 95%. Payment delays have been frequent, with promises of payout from 8/2024 to 11/2024 remaining unfulfilled. After three unsuccessful withdrawal attempts and numerous emails requesting updates, I have yet to receive any payments. This is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. A Pattern of Account Blocking Post-Review The issue of bot accusations is not new in the industry; other distributors have always reviewed and resolved such matters promptly. However, at UMW Recordings, my account was blocked shortly after I left a negative review. The account was active and functional until then, despite still being within the service period. This raises serious questions about the company's motives and transparency. They said they would contact YouTube and Spotify, but I am unsure whether they have actually reached out or if they are creating delays without addressing my issue. Where Is the Evidence? UMW Recordings has yet to provide any evidence to support their claim that I used fake streams or bots. I can confirm that all streams and revenue were acquired organically. With a modest average monthly revenue of $138, reaching a total of $752 since January 2024, there would be no incentive for me to resort to such practices. Final Thoughts: Consider Alternatives If you're searching for a reliable music distributor, I strongly advise against using UMW Recordings. The platform, built on SonoSuite's services, is unreliable. Apart from music distribution, most functions seem superficial, and the support is virtually non-existent. There are many reputable alternatives worth considering, such as Ditto, TuneCore, DistroKid, and OFFstep. My Commitment to Inform Others I will continue to share my experience and warn others about UMW Recordings until the issue is resolved. I am prepared to back up my claims with evidence, as my main objective is to receive the revenue owed to me. I will not stop raising awareness about my case, regardless of any potential legal threats from the company. Choose wisely, and think twice before committing to UMW Recordings.
