Main Accountant

Yandex is looking for a Main Accountant to join the team in our Belgrade office. In this role, you will manage end-to-end accounting processes, ensure accurate financial records, support statutory and tax reporting, and contribute to improving accounting procedures. Managing accounting operations
You will manage accounts payable using accounting software and related tools. You will also process transactions and perform accounting duties, including general ledger maintenance, recording entries, and reconciling books. Your responsibilities will also include managing all accounting transactions and ensuring compliance with internal procedures. You will be responsible for preparing tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT), working on the SEF portal, and making reconciliations with external partners (the Tax Authority, municipality office, vendors, customers).

Processing and controlling accounting documentation
You will ensure the timely processing of accounting documentation across P2P, O2C, fixed assets, general ledger, and bank processes, process due invoices for payment, and ensure invoices and payroll are paid accurately and on time. You will also receive, process, verify, and reconcile invoices, and respond to vendor inquiries. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements and reports to NBS ( DI-1 , DI-2 , and others) following internal procedures, and managing and ensuring accurate balances on GL accounts.

Reconciliations and data verification
You will reconcile general ledger postings, vendor, and customer accounts, and compare purchase orders, prices, payment terms, and other charges. You will also compare system reports with balances and verify accounting entries, and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information from multiple sources.

Tax and statutory compliance
You will process tax payments and submit tax returns in compliance with local legislation and company policies, ensuring adherence to applicable financial and regulatory requirements. You will also monitor updates in tax and accounting legislation relevant to the company’s activities.

Reporting, closing, and audits
You will handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, perform audits, investigate discrepancies, and support their resolution. You will also assist external auditors by providing reports, supporting documentation, and analytical input.

Process improvement and team coordination
You will improve accounting processes and procedures, control the work and performance of accountants, and collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret financial data.
