IP&IT Legal Counsel (supporting IP distribution)
Yandex is looking for a Legal Counsel to draft, review, and negotiate agreements, provide legal support, and advise on intellectual property issues . Apply if you have fluent English and 3+ years of experience supporting contracts involving software, technology, data, and intellectual property.

Tasks that await you

  • Draft, review, and help negotiate software and database assignment and licensing agreements as well as service agreements, including SaaS, for different companies in the Yandex Group
  • Provide legal support for technology development, exploitation, and commercialization, including reviewing agreements for outsourced development, licensing, and data provision
  • Provide legal support for the acquisition and disposal of intellectual property and data, including structuring template deals and drafting relevant agreements
  • Structure and draft documentation for complex deals in the fields of technology, software development, and software distribution, including joint development agreements, software fork license agreements, and more
  • Advise on intellectual property issues over the course of M&A projects
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks related to a variety of intellectual property issues
  • Draft instructions and FAQs
  • Communicate and coordinate with Russian and foreign legal consultants and translators

We expect that you

  • Law degree (preferably from a top-tier university)
  • Expertise in intellectual property and contract law
  • 3+ years of post-qualification experience with a law firm or as in-house counsel with a software development, telecom, or other IT company
  • Knowledge of and interest in information technology and software industries
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver professional results under pressure and within deadlines
  • Proven skills as a self-motivated team player with flexibility, independent judgment, and a business-oriented approach
  • Fluent legal English, both written and verbal
  • Experience with cooperation and participation on a global legal team in international and local projects

It'd be a plus if you

  • Experience working with contracts in common law jurisdictions
