Senior Legal Counsel

We’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team and focus on regulatory and compliance matters in the technology sector, particularly across the CIS region. This is a unique opportunity to help Yandex navigate complex legal landscapes while supporting innovation and growth in global markets.
What tasks await you
Providing legal support on regulatory matters
You will provide strategic legal guidance on regulatory, compliance, and public policy matters impacting Yandex’s operations in the CIS region and beyond
Monitoring and interpreting laws
You will analyze and interpret evolving laws and regulations affecting digital services, data protection, content moderation, cybersecurity, and telecom frameworks
Collaborating with internal teams
You will collaborate cross-functionally with global legal, public policy, engineering, and product teams to address regulatory challenges and ensure business alignment
Engaging with external stakeholders
You will represent Yandex in external engagements with regulators, industry groups, and other stakeholders.
Developing scalable compliance frameworks
You will proactively manage legal risk and develop scalable compliance frameworks.
We expect that you
- Bring 8+ years of PQE, including time at a leading international law firm or multinational IT company
- Have a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the tech sector (e.g., data privacy, cybersecurity, digital markets, etc.)
- Possess experience advising on cross-border legal issues and regulatory engagement, especially in CIS jurisdictions
- Have excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills in both legal and business contexts
- Are fluent in English and Russian
- Have in-house counsel experience at a global technology or digital platform company
- Have experience in building and operationalizing compliance programs at scale
- Thrive in a fast-paced multicultural environment
- Are a strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate legal issues and offer creative, pragmatic solutions
