# API change history

The current REST version of the Yandex Disk API is Version 1. The API is fully backward-compatible.

## December 16, 2015 {#dec-16-2015}

#### What changed

- Removed the restriction on the `Origin` header when [uploading a file to Yandex Disk](https://yandex.com/dev/disk-api/doc/en/reference/upload.md). Now you can pass this header with any value when [uploading a file to storage](https://yandex.com/dev/disk-api/doc/en/reference/upload.md) directly.


## January 27, 2015 {#jan-27-2015}

#### What's new

- For all requests that return a link to an image file preview: the reduced image can now be automatically cropped to a square using the `preview_crop` parameter.

- [Custom string attributes](https://yandex.com/dev/disk-api/doc/en/reference/meta-add.md) can be added to the meta information of a file or folder.

- The API can be used for [downloading a file from the internet to Yandex Disk](https://yandex.com/dev/disk-api/doc/en/reference/upload-ext.md).

- [Data about the user's Yandex Disk](https://yandex.com/dev/disk-api/doc/en/reference/capacity.md) now includes system folder paths.


#### What changed

- The `preview_size` parameter can now specify the exact dimensions of image preview files in pixels in addition to the preset preview sizes previously available (S, XL, and so on).

- In requests for resource meta information, you can set the preview size for image files (in the `preview_size` parameter):
