Postback parameters

The details of postback support in AppMetrica are described below.

General information

AppMetrica lets you assign postbacks for the tracker and specify when to send the postback. AppMetrica supports:

  • Postback about app installations (install postback).
  • Postback about a specified event in the app that occurred after installation (event postback).
  • Postback when receiving an E-commerce event from the app (E-commerce postback).
  • Postback when receiving an event about inapp purchases (purchase postback) from the app.

The following rules apply:

  • The postback is sent when the specified event or installation attribution appears. There is about a 5-minute delay when sending.
  • When the HTTP status 200 OK is received, it is considered successfully sent.
  • If a different HTTP status is received, AppMetrica resends the postback over the next 24 hours. Resending is repeated every 5-10 minutes.
  • An event postback is sent for events that occur within 6 months after installation.

Transmitting tracking URL parameters

AppMetrica allows passing any tracking URL parameters in a postback request. In the postback URL or postback body (for the POST method), specify the parameter name from the tracking URL in curly brackets: {parameter_name}.

For example, the following parameters are transmitted in the tracking URL:

https://redirect.appmetrica.yandex.com/serve/123456?custom_parameter=value1&another_param=value2

To pass the value1 and value2 parameters to the postback URL, write:

https://endpoint.myadnetwork.com?some_parameter={custom_parameter}&another_param={another_param}

To pass the value1 and value2 parameters using the POST method, write the following in the body:

         {
         "some_parameter": "{custom_parameter}",
         "another_param": "{another_param}"
         }

List of postback macros

AppMetrica supports a list of system macros that can be used in the postback URL or postback body (for the POST method). This list contains macros for device, attributed click, or in-app impression info. If AppMetrica can't determine the parameter value for a macro, the parameter will be empty.
