Yandex appoints new Chief Privacy Officer

Internet, 27 May 2021. Yandex has appointed Ivan Cherevko as its new Chief Privacy Officer. In the role, Ivan will coordinate the work of all Yandex businesses and divisions related to user and partner data protection. In addition, he will oversee the company’s policies governing employees’ access to data as well as be in charge of the procedures regarding data exchange between Yandex services.

“People share their personal data with Yandex, and we have to handle it responsibly. That’s why we’ve formulated certain principles — why we collect the data and what we do, and don’t, have the right to do with it. Ivan is going to monitor compliance with these principles at Yandex, and make the process as transparent as possible for the market and for our users,” says Tigran Khudaverdyan, Deputy CEO of Yandex Group. “He is also going to work to ensure that Yandex services continue to comply with international standards for the protection of privacy and personal information of users.”

Ivan joined Yandex in June 2018; for the last two years, he was responsible for data security matters at Yandex Search. Prior to joining Yandex, he worked at Rambler. In 2011 he founded Hotelscan, a service for comparing hotel prices.
