Yandex.Browser Synchronises Settings and Bookmarks Across Devices

Internet, May 14, 2013. Yandex has released a new version of its browser to help users maintain consistency and quality of their internet experience. The new Yandex.Browser synchronises users’ settings and information across multiple devices.

Settings, bookmarks, passwords, add-ons, and even search history, can now be automatically synchronised between computers with Yandex.Browser. Users can choose to sync everything or just a part of their information – only bookmarks, for example. The synchronised information can be accessed anywhere – at work, at home, even on a completely new computer if the old one breaks down. The data can’t be lost, because it’s synchronised via the Yandex.Disk cloud storage servers, and it’s safe thanks to the secure HTTPS protocol.

The new version also introduces other changes to make using the internet safer and easier. In addition to warning users about infected websites, Yandex.Browser now also warns about sites tricking visitors out of their phone number, which will then be used for a text message scam. Also, the browser’s address bar now has broader capabilities, allowing search queries to be edited right within it. According to Yandex’s statistics, in about 30% of cases users fine-tune their search query in this way.

Users of the new version of Yandex.Browser can now also add a background image – a picture from their own collection, or one from the browser’s library – to their personal panel in the browser. This picture will appear as a background image every time a new tab is opened, making the browser more personalised without distracting users from their work on the web.

The English version of the new Yandex.Browser can be downloaded from browser.yandex.com.
