Yandex.Money Without Frontiers

Internet, March 15, 2011. The online payment system Yandex.Money expands out of Russia. Its users in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries are now able to make online purchases using Yandex.Money.

To open an account in the Yandex.Money system, users need only to log into Yandex. Yandex.Money allows users to shift funds between accounts and make payments via the internet. The system supports over 3,000 online retailers in Russia and all over the world. Customers can easily use Yandex.Money to pay for web hosting or for calls on Skype, or for virtual goods in Lineage 2. All transactions in the Yandex.Money system are in rubles. To facilitate payment for purchases made in international stores, such as Amazon.com or the Apple App Store, Yandex.Money offers a virtual payment card in US dollars or euros.

“People living in the CIS countries use the same internet services as people living in Russia. They make connections in social networks, chat, play games, read books and listen to music. Now, just like web users in Russia, web users in the CIS can pay for any of these and many other online services using Yandex.Money,” says Jane Zavalishina, CEO of Yandex.Money.

Users in the CIS countries can fund their Yandex.Money accounts with cash transfers via the CONTACT or Anelik systems, which accept local currencies including Belarusian rubles, Ukrainian hryvnias and Kazakhstani tenge. Funds can be deposited into a Yandex.Money account for a fee of 1.5 to 2%. The users can withdraw cash from their accounts via the CONTACT or MIGOM systems.

Yandex.Money was launched in 2002. Every day the system adds over 8,000 new accounts and processes over 80,000 payments for products and services.
