Drivers in these cities can now check traffic conditions before starting out.

The maps on the service are constantly updated to provide drivers with the most current traffic information available. They can also check the traffic situation from their mobile devices using the Yandex.Maps application. Traffic information is provided by Yandex’s partners and by drivers. Anyone who owns a GPS-equipped mobile phone with the Yandex.Maps application can contribute to the traffic map on Yandex.

"People check out the traffic like they check out the weather,” says Roman Borisenko, a manager of Yandex.Traffic. “As we are gradually expanding, we encourage web users to join in our effort to make traffic maps for their cities".

Yandex.Traffic was launched in May 2006. Currently, the service has the monthly audience of three million and features traffic maps for nine Russian and two Ukrainian cities.
