Mobile Mail in Your Pocket

Internet, March 24, 2009. Yandex releases mobile version of the Ya.Online (“I’m.Online”) application for Windows Mobile, Symbian and Java platforms. Starting today, the application featuring both mobile mail service and instant messaging is now available to most mobile users.

The application’s email feature is based on push technology. Users do not need to check mail for new messages anymore, the Ya.Online service will do this for them. When a new email hits Yandex.Mail box, users get notification on the screen of their mobile devices.

In addition to receiving email notifications, with the mobile Ya.Online, users can also send and receive instant messages. This option is available to Yandex users as well as users of any desktop or mobile service supporting Jabber technology, such as Gmail, QIP Infium or LiveJournal.

"Mobile communication has to be fast, that is why we combined mobile email and instant messenger in one application,” says Dmitry Matveev, Ya.Online manager. “And if you have the Yandex.Maps application installed, Ya.Online will help you tell your friends about your current location and where you would like to meet them”.

Mobile Ya.Online is available for download from a webpage at mobile.yandex.ru/online or on a mobile device at m.ya.ru/yonline.

Ya.Online was launched in September 2007 as an email notifier for Yandex.Mail accounts. From September 2008, Ya.Online also features instant messaging. In December 2008, Yandex launched mobile Ya.Online for Symbian.
