Yandex Searches on Opera Mini

Internet, May 13, 2008. Yandex became the default search engine on Opera Mini mobile web browser. Mobile users in Russia and in the CIS can now have instant access to Yandex web search directly from the start page of the browser. Previously, the Yandex search field featured in Opera’s desktop browsers.

“Opera Mini is the most popular mobile web browser in the world, and Yandex is the most popular search engine in Russia,” says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Software ASA. “Together, we can give our users internet access and easy online search”.

To start using Yandex search by default, Russian-speaking mobile users can download the new version of Opera Mini and install it on their mobile devices.

Opera Software ASA develops web browsers for PCs, mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs. The Opera Mini browser makes it possible to have internet access from mobile phones that do not normally support regular web browsers.

Most of Yandex’s services and projects, which include Search, Mail, Maps and Market, support mobile browsers. In addition, Yandex offers two free mobile applications, Maps and Fotki.
