This update concerns the auction purchasing of all Yandex.Direct banners with CPM payment — banners in display campaigns and display banners on the Yandex Home page.
According to MRC standards, a banner impression will be counted as viewable only if at least 50% of its area is located in the user’s visible zone for at least one full second.
New cross-sections in statistics
The transition to the new standard will bring changes to Yandex.Direct statistics as well — new cross-sections will help analyze ad impressions in more detail. Alongside the overall number of impressions, you will see the number of viewable impressions according to MRC standards, as well as the number of impressions that did not meet the standards’ requirements and were not counted as viewable.
Here is the full list of cross-sections:
- Impressions — the overall number of viewable, counted impressions, i.e. both viewable and all non-identified.
- Viewable impressions — impressions of display ads counted as viewable according to MRC standards.
- Unviewable impressions — impressions that do not meet MRC standards, and therefore are neither counted nor paid for.
- Non-identified impressions — impressions that were impossible to measure according to MRC standards for technical reasons.
Yandex also passed certification for its video advertising, and is already counting impressions according to MRC standards. Moreover, there are additional requirements for video advertising on Yandex related to the size of the player. New statistical cross-sections will also appear for this ad type.
